This is the premier job board and forum for security officers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over one million Americans work as security officers. Given increasing concerns about terrorism and crime in many parts of the country, the demand for security officers is unlikely to abate any time soon.
Job Duties of Security Officers
Security officers play a valuable role for society, by preventing crime and protecting property. At gated communities and private condominiums, they make sure that unauthorized or uninvited guests do not enter the community or condominium to protect it. Similarly, at court houses and other government facilities, security officers play an important role in keeping unauthorized persons away from restricted areas.
Security officers may also be required to operate X-ray machines and use metal detectors to make sure weapons or contraband do not enter certain areas. They may also be required to carry a firearm to protect people and property, though carrying a firearm requires a separate license.
Because it is impractical to have law enforcement officers at all places and at all times, security officers fill the void to lower crime and bring peace of mind. Considering what security officers do for society, they command — or rather should command — enormous respect, as they go about their jobs often without recognition, especially those who work graveyard shifts while almost everyone else is asleep.
Because of the strong demand for security officers in the job market, this website aims to match those who are licensed and trained in the field with employers who need them.
